Was Yushchenko Poisoned?

CodeBlueBlog takes a look at the evidence and concludes that there’s something fishy going on with the dioxin poisoning story. Indeed, the evidence presented does seem to warrant that conclusion. If someone were going to try to kill Mr. Yushchenko, why use dioxin when something like ricin would be more fatal? If the intent was to kill Yushchenko, why is he still walking around? One would think that if you’re going to poison someone and you’ve access to any number of deadly substances, you’d get the job done rather than allowing him to turn it into a political issue.

It’s quite possible that Yushchenko was indeed poisoned by dioxin-based poisons. However, without some confirming evidence and some reasons why the clinical descriptions given by the hospital don’t match the symptoms and toxicology of dioxin poisoning there will still be some serious unanswered questions about what really happened to Viktor Yushchenko.

  1. Hrm, I think the science isn’t on Viktor’s side, here. Dioxin bioaccumulates. The body has no ability to purge or remove it; you have to wait till it chemically degrades, which takes years.

On one hand, dioxin exposure can give you a skin condition called “chloracne”, which would cause the same facial scarring. On the other hand, CodeBlue is right – if his dioxin levels are normal now, then he never had any to begin with.

But what, then, explains the significan skin damage he recieved? Did he burn himself with acid or something?

  2. The first thing I thought when I saw the before/after photos- this is just the opposite of what happened to John Kerry…
